Teemu Kilpiä appointed General Manager of the Viru Hotel
Teemu Kilpiä will start as the General Manager of Original Sokos Hotel Viru. Previously, he worked as the Country Director of Prisma stores in Estonia.
Teemu Kilpiä, M.Sc. (Econ.), has been appointed as the General Manager of Original Sokos Hotel Viru and the Managing Director of the hotel company AS Sokotel as of 13 April 2026. Kilpiä previously worked as the Country Director of Prisma stores in Estonia. Kilpiä has worked in various roles at Prisma in Estonia for a total of 12 years and speaks fluent Estonian.
"Viru Hotel is Estonia’s largest and best-known hotel and a part of the country’s history. It is a place connected to the personal memories of many Estonians and has for decades been an important meeting place. For me, it is very important to preserve the unique character of this legendary hotel while developing its services and hospitality. I very much look forward to meeting our customers and working together with the entire Viru team," says Teemu Kilpiä.
New services in Viru in 2026 include, for example, the opening of the Viru Rooftop bar on the 23rd floor for the summer season and the transformation of the former Cafe Amigo and Valuutabaar into private event spaces. The popular show & dinner performances in cooperation with Starlight Cabaret of Tallinn will start a new season again in the fall.
"I see a lot of opportunities to develop the services of the Viru Hotel. We are committed to Tallinn in the long term and are also exploring new business opportunities in the city," says Teemu Kilpiä.
On 7 April, SOK announced a strategic cooperation with Coop Eesti, in which AS Prisma Peremarket and its 13 Prisma stores will be sold to Coop Eesti. The transaction will not affect the operations of Original Sokos Hotel Viru, which will continue normally.
